What’s up everybody, Im seeking some guidance and info on new wheels for my gladiator. I’ve got a 21 willys with a 3.5 inch lift, aftermarket fenders and inner fenders, 1.75 inch wheel spacers and 315/70/17 all terrain tires (34.5 inches I think?). I want to stick with a 17x9 wheel so I can use my current tires, but want to get rid of the wheel spacers because I simply don’t trust them lol. I’d like to maintain my current aggressive stance, so I was wondering what offset I should be looking for to best achieve that same look that the spacers provide? What wheels are you guys running? And can you Send pics to show stance? Thanks in advance! ?

With a Mojave on order; I looked up in the Jeep Performance Catalogue and found Mopar Competitively priced and stated to fit the Mojave.. 17 x 8.5 and that is what I will be putting on with my Toyo OC ATIII 35/11.50x17s. Good Luck

I just ordered some 17x9s with a -38 offset and 3.5 bs. Those specs are few and far between but they can be found.

I deleted my last reply because I only took backspace into calculation.
You're looking to do 2 things here, go to a wider wheel and maintain the same stance you have now using spacers.
The stock 7.5" wide wheels have a +44mm offset. Using 1.75" spacers effectively makes that offset 0, its not exact but close. In order to maintain the same aggressive stance, what you want is the outer edge of the rim to stay the same distance out, as long as the inner edge doesn't go too far in and rub.

So if going with a 9" wide rim, the outer edge will be roughly the same distance out as stock plus spacer if it has a +18mm offset. However, the center of the rim, which will equal the center of the tire, will be further in than you currently have. To combat that a 9" wide rim with 0 offset more or less keeps the center of the tire in the same spot.

17x9 0 offset, there are a lot of options out there with this setup.

Hope this helps

My advice… stay away from multi bolt pattern wheels. Aligning 10 holes on a 5x5 configuration is quite cumbersome and tiring unless you mark the bolts.

very helpful, I was under the impression that the stock wheel size was 17x9 rather than 17x7.5. With that being the case, is there Any benefit going to a wider wheel with positive offset vs skinny with negative offset? I’d imagine the more negative the offset gets the more stress it could put onto suspension and drivetrain components? Thanks for the help man

Most 315 width tires are designed for rims at least 8" wide. That's not to say they can't be mounted on to 7.5" wheels like you have, but they won't perform at their peak. They will naturally have a bit more curvature to the tread and wear more in the middle. A wider rim will flatten the tread out. From what I know that's pretty much it. I doubt you'd even feel the difference in handling, though you definitely will if you end up getting wheels that are heavier than stock.

I may be wrong here but stock wheels could be somewhere around 27 or 28 lbs? Someone please correct me here.

Okay great, thanks for the info and help. I think I’ll go ahead and look at some 17x9s

Sorry, but for everyone's safety I think it's important to correct the minimum rim width. 315 section tires must not be mounted on 7.5 inch wide rims. Tire manufacturers uniformly state rim width of 8.5 inches to 10 inches.

Discount Tire shows rim width of 7.5-11 for the Nitto Ridge Grappler in 315/70R17.

Personally, I wouldn’t want it done, but Discount says it can.
