As a vendor of Jeep aftermarket accessories, I am accustomed to answering questions for you guys, but this time I have a question and I'm hoping some of you may be able to assist me and my customer.

My customer is a industrial designer, an inventor, a Jeep Gladiator owner (as of last week) and a paraplegic. The last item has never defined him and he is an avid pilot (hand controls) and has put Moab on his bucket list of things to do in this Gladiator.

He plan on designing and constructing a lift system to raise his wheel chair through the back door and then close the door behind him. Based on a long conversation and several email with him, I am convinced he will do it. But upon delivery of the Gladiator he realizes his first obstacle to overcome is the resting height of the JT.

He has asked me to find an airbag suspension system that will both raise and lower his vehicle enough for the lifting device to be able to work. At this point there are no details as to how much lower he wants or needs the JT to go, just do such systems exist.

Generally, I deal with the lot of us testosterone driven Jeepers who want to make the ride higher and more rugged, this is my first request to find a way to make the Jeep temporarily lower for entry. Any thoughts?

This is the only one I know of also. I have it buried on my list. Maybe, just maybe, if they make it for the JT and I come into some cash next year.
Thank you I will be calling them tomorrow for my customer. Even if he has to buy them direct, I'm ok with that. I just want him to succeed with his project.

The other option is just finding a good Jeep show to put something together. Waiting for a bolt on kit may take awhile, and I imagine to get as low as he wants (which is a question that needs answering) you'll probably have to change some other stuff.

I talked to the guys at Off Road Only about AiRock for the Gladiator. They should have access to one in the next few months to get requirements for a kit. I'm extremely interested in being able to lower the ride height temporarily in order to get in a low clearance garage. The rest of the benefits of the air suspension are an added bonus.

I spoke with them yesterday too. So they have heard from both of us about our distinct needs. I have passed their contact info on to my customer so that he is aware of their plans over the next month.

A happy side benefit for us, is that we are now going to become an ORO dealer regardless of where our customer ultimately chooses to purchase the AiRock system.

You will love the kit. Pricey, but well worth it. I had it on my TJ, and then helped Steve with the instructions for the JK's when they were pre-production. They can take some abuse, and the York was awesome on the trails running air tools and inflating tires after the run. I will definately run the air system again, but I don't think I can get the suspension past the money warden..
