Bought the Alien gear tonneau. Wasn’t expecting much but WOW.

Quality is piss poor. God awful stitching, the clamps are cheap and flimsy, whoever designed it didn’t think about the lights so when you go to clamp down, low and behold… you can’t! They give you enough weather stripping for the cab end and that’s it.

Going back to Amazon in the morning.

That sucks. Good thing to have a good return policy.

I have a similar one from Amazon. I got the KSCPRO Soft Tri Fold Truck Bed Tonneau Cover. It has a very similar handle but I do not have any issues with it interfering with the light. Some times it is hard to get the rod to align with the slot but works for a pretty inexpensive cover.

I have the Gator trifold, same knobs, same issue. I also had issues with them - When I have the deer cart or the 12v fridge in the back, the latches couldnt open / close fully.. it was annoying.

I ordered a set of aluminum J-Hooks from ebay, then ordered a set of 1/4x20 knobs from amazon, like these: https://a.co/d/eNEWK6C

Completely removed the latches, used the existing threaded rods that the latches had attached to. Drilled out the threads on the J-Hooks so they would slide freely over the threaded rod, then installed the knobs.

I put a lock nut at the bottom of each rod just in case but so far I havent had any issues with the knobs coming loose.

Ill take a few pictures later and put em up here.

Edit: picture. Lock nut is just to keep the knob from coming fully off, I can remove and reinstall tonneau by loosening and tightening the knobs.
