I’m here now, really hoping he will say it doesn’t need it and not charge me but I guess we will see. At least it will be logged as checked.

Ask for a printout. Might as well at least have the info.

They gave me a printout. The front driver tire was off like .3 and the steering was off about the same amount. He said it wouldn’t have made that much of a difference but at least I know it’s all good now.

Just got a set of new tires put on my gladiator and the guy at the shop said I should probably get an alignment since I added larger tires. I went from the stock 33” (Mojave) to 285/65/20 (almost 35”). I have a tazer and have adjusted the tire size in that. In your experience, is an alignment needed after a tire size change or just smart to do? Thanks for the replies! Picture of my jeep, it’s dark out, I can take a better picture tomorrow.

Absolutely not needed. Maybe if your old tires were showing strange signs of wear or if you had a bunch of steering components replaced. A lot of this "mechanics" are vampires and they say every set of tires require an alignment. Not true, especially on solid axle vehicles...
Walk away and never go back.

I bought a set of alignment plates. They were cheap, and it allows me to set my toe almost perfectly on the money in my driveway at home. My tires wear really well. As already mentioned, on solid front axle rigs this is all you need.
