They're nice for hunting when its raining and snowing to have a place to hang out instead of crouching in a tent. We have also had bears pull people out of tents around here, so if you're worried about that kind of thing they can feel more secure. I've had wolves outside my tent in the middle of the night, super cool but kinda freaky at the same time.

We’ve probably covered this before but yeah bears likely do prefer a soft taco tent. Any hard shell might be worth considering, even if it only affords an extra minute of time, enough to wake n point old Henry. Joe Rogan shivers with approval
