Here's my set up...Vantage Sonic SN220VRB. 27' LOA, around 5,100 lbs with all we want or need. Tow it with an Overland gasser. I shift the 8sp manually. My Overland handles it very nicely. Pretty much east coast towing...home to Raleigh, NC, Assateague on the DelMarVa peninsula, Outerbanks, NC, going to Williamsburgh, VA this summer and probably a few short weekend trips nearer home this summer.

That is crazy impressive!! What motor/rear end suspension work have you done and have?

None. Stone stock. Normal driving I use regular gas. Towing, I use mid grade (89 octane) for just a little more bang for the buck.

A good weight distribution hitch (WDH) handles any rear end sag. I measured from the bottom of the hitch receiver to the ground then hooked up my trailer (~500 lb tongue weight) and saw only a 1 1/2" drop. Hooked up my WDH and the drop was only 3/4". The front end feels just as planted as if I'm not towing anything.

The only minor mod is a K&N air filter, cleaned and carefully/lightly re-oiled every 15K miles and by that I mean that I lightly spray the cleaner oil on both sides then try to remove any excess with paper towels as I do know that too much oil can get sucked into the intake and cause issues.

What a great thread!
Here is my setup:
Gladiator gen3 diesel rubicon w/ GDE engine/trans tune + thermostat, PPE trans pan, Mishimoto radiator/trans cooler, Teraflex Delta brakes, Bilstein 8100 DSA shocks, Hellwig rear swaybar, WDH

Trailer: Geo Pro 20FBS w/ 9k mini split, 1200w of solar, 11kWh+ of lithium batteries, 3500w inverter, dc/dc charger, 120v/30a to power another RV, +100db gain cell phone booster and got the weight down to 3,800lbs fully loaded

13.5-15mpg @70-80mph, 20k miles on this setup towing all over the country

Yup. The only engine offered at the time I got her, and currently offered.

I shift manually when towing. Up-shifts are between 2,500 and 3K RPMs. I don't cruise faster than 65 MPH and that's in 7th at around 2,100 RPMs. When I hit a grade, it's usually a drop to 6th at around 2,500 RPMs until I crest the grade, then it's back to 7th. Sometimes I will need to drop to 5th to keep it to at least 55 MPH at around 3K RPMs then again when the grade has been crested, it's back to 7th. I never see 8th unless I'm going downhill with a tail wind 😂 😂 😂

Temperatures don't go higher than 215-220 degrees and, that was observed on a day when the outside temp was 100 degrees.

I typically get around 13 MPG towing, especially going south towards beach destinations on the east coast.

My current trip to the Watkins Glen, NY area, I only got around 10 MPG because of towing through the Pocono mountains on the PA Turnpike northeast extension (I-476) and I-81 into NY, a LOT of up grades there. I'm sure I'll do better coming home as it'll be more predominantly downhill.
