Haven't pulled it with the JT yet, and my wife is apprehensive, but I'm confident... 22.5' trailer that weighs #5000 pounds dry, probably up to #6000 pounds with all our crap in it now. We use a WDH. Just bought a 23 Rubicon gas and have no intention of lift or bigger rubber.

It pulls just fine so long as the wind isn't ugly. Shifted the 8 speed auto manually and went no higher than 6th. This was on a trip to trade it in mind you, not because the JT can't handle it, but I wanted smaller/lighter to go further and more places more often.

My wife and I have made quite the camper / tow vehicle journey over the past few years.

In 2021 I built a rooftop tent overlanding trailer myself and we used it several times. Not sure what it weighed but less than 2000# loaded for sure. Pulled it with a 2021 Overland.

In 2023 we decided we were tired of climbing up and down a ladder so we sold the overlanding trailer and bought a Bushwhacker 12ROK. Trailer was 1940# empty and we towed it with a 2022 Gladiator Willys.

In July of this year we decided we were done with finding campsites near restrooms and walking back and forth to shower houses so we upsized again! Wildwood FSX 169RSK. Camper is right around 4000# empty and we are towing it with a 2023 Rubicon with a WDH.

Our first trip was 440 mile drive from southern Indiana to Bay City, MI. By the time I got to the Michigan state line, I was ready to either sell the Jeep or downsize the camper. I was trying to maintain interstate speeds of 65-70 mph and the Jeep was just working way too hard. It was when I accepted that 60 mph was fast enough that the Jeep handled the weight pretty well. On the way back home, I took my time, drafted every semi I could, and it was a decent drive home. Locally at lower speeds, the Jeep handles the camper with no issues. I really wish Jeep would put a Hemi in the Gladiator.

Here's when we picked up our 2023 ModernBuggy 12LRK back in October with my 21 Max Tow. I'll get some new pics this weekend with my 23 Punkn Rubi.

Very nice. What's the bolt pattern on the wheels? Would be cool if I could match the wheels to the JT's

My offroad trailer is 5x5. And very similar offset. So two spares for either. But I’m not buying teraflex nomads for the trailer. :)

5x4.5 is one of the most common small trailer patterns.
It shouldn't be too hard to convert over to 5x5. Or it would be easy to get adapters to go from the 5x4.5 to 5x5 if inclined to go that route. Or a good machine shop could redrill the bolt pattern.

The trailer would match my 98 XJ lol. I'd probably go the wheel spacer/adapter route.

Lookin' good! You've got about 1500lbs more tow capacity with your Sport Max Tow than I have with my Overland, but even with the 3.73 rear end and the loaded trailer at the top of the tow rating, mine seems to do well, over the first 500 miles. Ours is a Globetrotter which is a couple of hundred pounds heavier than the International. I had the OEM FCA brake controller installed at my Jeep dealer. I had some pretty severe sway issues initially with the Globetrotter because of the light tongue weight and improper setup of the Blue Ox SwayPro hitch that came with it. I relied on the dealer to set it up initially. I've got that sorted out now, but I found a used ProPride 3P locally, so I'm going to give that a try just.... well... because I got it cheap, and it was local! *grin* We'll see if they're all they're advertised to be. If I don't like it, I'll switch back to the SwayPro and re-sell it.
Hepcat, did you tryout the Propride hitch? If so, how did it perform ?I have a 2020 JT Sport S with the same tow package as the Overland. I’m hoping to get a travel trailer later this year and have been researching hitches.
Thanks

As a matter of fact, I have about 3,000 miles now with the ProPride. I traded the 23’ GT for a 27’ GT that I’m towing with a ‘25 RAM 1500. I’ve railed against Hensley and ProPride for over 20 years as being too heavy and expensive, but I am now a believer. I couldn’t get the Blue Ox dialed in on the new trailer, but the ProPride is amazing.

Thanks for the info. The travel trailers that we are leaning towards are all single axle so I really don’t want the sway. I’m trying to stay with the Gladiator as my tow vehicle so I’m not going too big.
