Any issues with gap in door jamb?

I just got my Gladiator last week, and I notice this fairly big gap when the front door is open.

It seems like this could catch a lot of stuff, especially if driving with the doors off. Even with the doors on, I can tell salty winter slush could get in there, which is my primary concern living here in the rust belt. Can anyone share what there experience has been like?

I've lost a bolt in there. The gap is open in the bottom, so liquid doesn't stay in there.
