I apologize if this concern has already been brought up in the previous responses, but I admittedly have not read half of them being lazy.

Of course z automotive is going to tell you to remove and or unmarry from a liability standpoint just as I'm sure the dealership would say the same as well, each pointing the finger back towards each other for liabilities. But, if you have some major settings changed from your taser (most significantly gear ratio for example), and for whatever reason things get sent back to the original settings intentionally or unintentionally due to an unmarry or dealership flash, and then it is driven that's risking, causing major problems. Just my two cents.

Although I personally have not regeared, I just wonder about this. I generally do not remove my taser when going to the dealership. I initially did in the early stages of owning my JT but even then I never unmarried anything. But now I don't even remove it at all let alone unmarry.

My suggestion would be to use someone other than the dealer for the emissions check. They will connect to the OBD port, but only to read the emissions status. That does not require removal of the Tazer. There may be an option in the Tazer to allow OBD port access that needs turned on.
I should probably look at doing that….. I went to the dealership because the ā€˜safetyā€˜ part of the inspections are free for life ($35-$40). I still have to pay for emissions ($45-$55). The dealership is about 25 miles away.

Some folks have already mentioned that earlier……but I didn’t think much of it until now. The convenience would outweigh the $35 I’d save going to the dealer.

My dealer includes free annual emissions/safety inspections for as long as I own it. They are also 70 miles away, only a few of which are highway. A trip to the dealer is at least $25 worth of gas and 4hrs of my day wasted. Easier to pay the local shop the $50.
Hell, just ordered our 3rd Jeep from them, and I have only even set foot inside the building once. The first one from them they actually delivered to our house at no charge.

I haven’t ever unplugged my Tazer for a dealer visit. I have never had an issue and don’t plan to bother with it until told to do so. Maybe it gives a bad read? I don’t know.

If I'm having just body work done no grinding or welding do I still need to remove the tazer from my Jeep ?

My local dealer has no issue with the Tazer. The dealership where I left my Wrangler for a spastic Can bus issue in Limon Colorado (Transwest) were dumbfounded by it. Then again, they don't seem to sell many Wranglers/Gladiators. They mainly sell 2500 and bigger Ram trucks.
