Thankfully we have a power bleeder at the school. You are correct and I did say seat of the pants. The full bleed and new pads both helped I'm sure
That's a good way to bleed 'em.

Here, Indian foot paths became settler trails. That became wagon trails. Then they paved them. So we have some interesting roads. Every little patch town was at a coal mine or a coke oven. The coal mines and coke oven are all gone. The patch towns are still there.
There's a number of wagon paths and stage coach paths here. In fact, Vandalia used to be a stage coach stop. My grandfather worked many years as a hired hand in Madison County area in Iowa - one day he was plowing and turned up human remains. They did some research and found that farm was along what used to be a path to the west through this area. You die on the trail, they bury you on the trail and carry on.

Grew up off Archer Ave in Chicago. Was the same.

I don't have a lot of free time on the trip next month. Joining my brother in law and his wife in Reunion. Then heading to Moab for a day. Then to Lake Powell for the week.

Im changing my rear brake lines soon, for a simple bleed and top off should Dot 3 be used? Is there really much difference in different brands of brake fluid (ie-synthetic vs non)?

I retired in 2016 at the age of 60. Just walked away from it. I still do consulting work on the side.
Me too. I was between 62-63. Taught for 23 years. I'm 73 now and lifting tires is a bit harder than the old days, and then I have 35s and never had a tire that large either.

Hey, I was just up above Great Sand Dunes on the Medano Pass Road. That Medano Pass Creek was wild due to this monsoon. We don't get that much water down here in Albuquerque, but my house is at 5460'. That was nine Medano Creek crossings and one mud hole about 35" deep that challenged the Kanati Trail Hogs and maximum depth (NPS said not to go that far). Mount Taylor down here is 11,000+, but our highest peak is around 13,000 (Sangre de Cristos) although you can't drive to the top. I think it was about 10,000 at Medano Pass.

I spent my summers at Cherry Creek as a kid. My grandfather raised grain on two sections. It's now all houses south of Denver.

Maybe if I go back there next year, I'll get the breathers. I did my own design for the Tacoma and ran it up to the bed.

DOT 3 It's spelled out in the book - the owners manual.

I've used DOT 3 in everything I've ever owned.

Whatever you do, don't use DOT 5.

Oh I know it's in the manual, unfortunately I didn't have it handy at the tone I asked... Thanks

Yep. Dot 5 brake fluid is a big NO-NO. Don't mix it with other brake fluids unless you want to spend $$$$ to redo your brake system. You can mix Dot 3 with Dot 4, and Dot 5.1.

Just remember to use fresh brake fluid out of a sealed bottle.
