Ordered and arriving next week. Two questions hoping you can help with.

1: Likely not doing a winch, and definitely not now. Understand this bumpers negative is it leaves a large hole where the winch should go. Can one of you with the bumper do me a favor and measure the opening? I’m going to fabricate a piece of Diamond plate panel and paint it black as a temp solution. That should look decent as a stop gap.

2: Lights..what did you all do? Cube lights and drill/rustoleum the drilled holes? This was my idea or hang them under the bull bar.

@svc707

It may be top secret proprietary information…but did you happen to jot down the measurements of the opening? Never saw a follow up on your thread.

Will also solve my other issue of a place to Mount a light. I could put a small bar or a few cube lights bolted right to that cover.

I have the worst patience. Ended up just grabbing a 24”x48” piece of diamond plate. I’ll measure, cut, and paint when the arcus shows up.

@be77solo Beech Skipper? (BE77 Airplane)

thanks a ton and for understanding my lack of patience. Looks like you even stood in the rain for me to help out.

This is great, from this I can likely be even more impatient and get started.

It arrives next Wednesday and the smart thing to do is measure, fit, make it perfect, install, uninstall, then paint it multiple coats. Then a few days later install the bumper.

Now I can make the panel to cover the opening using the scientific wild ass guess method, then prep and paint and install all next Wednesday.

It won’t fit right and I’ll need to do it again costing me time and money. It’s what I do.

Also- wow. This bumper 100% needs a winch for the look. The panel will look good but will only be a stop gap for sure. I have zero need for a winch, but may buy one just so the bumper looks cooler. I’ve done dumber things.

Also, nice color. Mine is the same.

Yep, good catch, soloed a Skipper on my 16th Bday back in '97, loved that thing. Don't fly anything as cool as what you do from your profile pic, but have a GA-7 we love to knock around in.

If you need any better measurements or pics let me know, I just snapped these in a hurry and it looks like a couple of them got out of order, but tried to show you an idea of bolt hole width for the overrider bar (that's where I've pondered mounting my plate if I make one) as well as an idea of the actual opening.

A similar project has been on my list since I installed the bumper a few months ago, I'm just on the fence too. I'd rarely use a winch so would mostly be just for looks, and don't want the weight penalty on the front, but they do look nice and complete the look. Have had my eyeball on the HF Badlands Apex, but just struggle with the weight penalty for basically looks in my case as I almost always wheel with buddies. In the meanwhile I've just gotten used to the look and don't notice as much anymore, but will address it one way or the other one day.

Keep us posted on what you come up with!

Next question-
I may buy the diode dynamics amber fogs. Is that something I could put in after the fact or best to wait till I order them and do it all at once?

I know it would be much easier prior to install, more curious if it’s possible after.
