I'd like to get one of those semi-transparent sun shades for my truck, but everything I can find lowers the roof level by several inches. They look like they'd end up resting on my head. Are there any that are raised, similar to the full soft top? Or any homemade ideas?

They all attach to the roll cage, right? I was hoping it might be finagle something a bit higher.

You can try kayak j hooks. That's what hot head liner ships with their soft liner.

Fish the bungie from under the shade and run it over the roll bar and onto the hook.

That pulls the tension of the shade upwards and they will at least sit flush with the top of the roll bar.

To make any more room would need some sort of space to prop the up. Make run a bow across the center like how tent poles support.

The Bestop Retractable sunshade sits high - but you need the Sunrider to use it.

I went outside and put a taut piece of tape across the top of roll bar. I have just about an inch of space. So I guess something like the hot head sunshade would work, even if it's closer than ideal.

My Gladiator (2024) has a trim piece that's higher than the roll bar. I think it might be specific the soft top? I'm wondering how practical it would be to attach something to that.

I ordered a $13 Amazon Warehouse "coverspec" shade. It has grommets, so I'll see what I can rig up with that. I appreciate all the advice.

Also found this cheaper alternative to the hooks: Jeep sunshade knob

Thanks for sharing. The hooks stick out just a little, but enough to sometimes accidentally hit your head. In the years that I've had them, I've hit my head maybe twice, but that's still two times too many. Lol

I just saw some of these grommets available on etsy, but overpriced. I'll need to get these 3d printed.

Updated: I printed 8 of them out. They're not as shallow as the ones on etsy. Haven't installed yet, but they look like they could use a longer bolt.

Okay, I measured them. LoL.
Factory is t25 x 19mm truss screws. The knobs are 10mm deep. So that leaves 9mm of tapered threads available. I think I found some suitable replacements that are t25 x 25mm.
The knob are definitely less of a hazard than the hooks.

Thanks again.
