A lot of reports that I have seen have seemed to be more of an installation problem then a glass quality.
Have you read all of the cracked and chipped glass posts? Seems it's not been that great. A rock chip causing a crack isn't an installation problem. Don't know how an installation problem could apply with urethane-adhered glass. Hard to mess that up.

So - who is making the Jeep OEM GG? Corning themselves? Auto makers normally don't make their own windshields.

Seems HGP knew better about putting the Gorilla Glass on the INSIDE layer, which struck me as doing it wrong. Good thing I'm not a design engineer for them!

16K and 15 months here and not a ding to be seen.

Maybe Jeep should just OEM their glass instead?

Thats not the HGP version in your pic, it says Jeep bigfoot right on it.

That's where it's always done........... not sure why, but Ford, Corning, HGP, all, it's on the inside of the cab next to your face, not next to the rocks and sand.

How close y’all follow behind cars and/or big rigs? I’ve put in 13k into my JTR and no cracks on stock windshield
You left out the wider than fender tire fitment.

Don't have to follow close or for that matter follow anyone at all. I steer way clear of the big boys and my wife stays way back from everyone and yet we've both had multiple cracked and chipped windshields.
I was going through Des Moines one day with my wife's Grand Cherokee and in the far left lane going around a couple of other vehicles in the middle. There were 3 lanes at that point. In the far right lane was a cement truck. It was ahead of me a few car lengths. I watched as a rock either fell off or was kicked up by that truck, bounced across the center lane and up into the middle of the windshield in our Jeep - CRACK. I wasn't even behind anyone, and that truck was 2 lanes to the right of me.
We've had several other instances where either a vehicle coming from the OTHER direction kicked up a rock, or one from several car lengths ahead did and hit our windshields.
I don't follow anyone close at all with my SX4 - not with the hours, weeks, months of prep and painting and making it just perfect and yet - yes, chip in the windshield (it is small, "repaired" but you can still see it) and a couple of years ago I was out with it and something up ahead kicked up a rock hard enough it DENTED the front edge of the hood. I had to fix, prep and repaint the hood. It wasn't a paint chip, it was a good ding that would have absolutely busted the glass if it had hit that. I was lucky it was the hood, I guess. I wasn't close at all, no semis in the area. I won't follow anything close with that car, let alone a big rig.
My wife has had two windshields replaced as I recall - and she stays way back.. She's the sort that will yell at anyone following too close to another vehicle.
It's a false assumption that someone was following anything or anyone too close to get a busted windshield. And with big tires, and certain bumpers, these things will toss stuff forward from the tops of the front tires that then come back onto your windshield. I've proven that with my own.

This is a very mild case. My truck currently has a very muddy gunky windshield - mostly from my own tires ->

How did you get it replaced with the HPG? On their website it says the windshield is on backorder.

26 thousand miles ago they were not on back order
Did you order it directly from HPG or get satellite to order it and replace it for you through insurance? I’ve got a huge crack in mine, plus a separate chip, that I’ve been putting off getting replaced.

I ordered it direct and mentions the litebeite discount and got 50 dollars off. Then took it to an installer. My insurance does not cover jeep windshields.

What is the difference between the two? I ordered one of the first 2022's. Ordered 10-12-21 and picked up a few weeks ago on 12-27-21. This is just what it came with. It had 12 miles when I picked it up from Gupton.

HGP is an aftermarket windshield company that claims to have a different process, from the Jeep GG

Thanks Dave! That makes sense. Is one considered better than the other? (Mine is great so far, so it's not important YET)
