I had a 2020 Sport S that I had built and wheeled a lot, and then I was given a free 4Runner. I built that, and got rid of my Gladiator in the process. I had decided to get something "efficient," so I got a Tesla Model 3. I really hated it, and only lasted in it for 9 months. I traded to a used Tundra so I'd have a "forever" truck (not happening, but more on that later)

In the meantime, the 4Runner started having issues; Toyotas are reliable but when they have 240k miles stuff is bound to start wearing out. The problem was it started having the issues when I was wheeling, not when I was driving it around, so by the time I nuked a transmission I was done with it. It was an easy sale when the transmission was replaced with a used one due to some Toyota friends needing a new DD/wheeler.

My plan was to DD the Tundra, and buy a 2 door Jeep with the 4Runner proceeds. My wife was really against the idea of having 3 vehicles again for some reason, and finding a Jeep I could trust was still a little more pricey than the 4Runner proceeds since I was looking for a JK Rubicon at a minimum. I need a wheeler that will not only be reliable on the trail, but is able to get me on long trips as well. We need a truck too, so I couldn't trade in the Tundra for a Wrangler

Even though she said she'd DD my truck, and I was working a deal to trade in her SUV for a used XR JLUR, I just couldn't see her enjoying the truck. So I started shopping JTRs and JTMs again since they really do check all the boxes I need. I had gotten to the point of cleaning out her car when I just couldn't see it happening, so I stopped what I was doing and got to shopping on JTRs.

Then I found exactly what I was looking for, a JTR already built with good Metalcloak parts, 37s, and Racelines. I'm not sure if its geared or not, but it's ready for me to jump in and wheel without having to mod for months. Also, Toyota resale means that my monthly is going to be less than it was for the Tundra anyway. Some clicks later on the computer, and it's getting delivered to my house tomorrow. Triple white 2020 JTR with peanut butter guts

All in all it's a good purchase. I still want a 2 door, and I still would probably be better off with a more efficient DD, but my son starts driving next winter so I'm sure I'll get one of those things next summer
