Overall I like the idea of the Tazer Mini, I just wish it would stay connected and the menus and everything was easily accessible from the infotainment instead of doing all the Konami-code stuff with the steering wheel buttons to do much of anything.

Not sure I understand you because it does stay connected?

If all one wants to accomplish is turning off the LP lights while in reverse, make your own very simple, very basic harness, or buy the one on eBay.
But if someone wants more like rear locker or sway bar disconnect in 2nd or the ability to raise engine idle rpm for winching or other things you might need a higher idle for then the tazer is a good investment.

I can raise my idle speed with jscan while winching or snow plowing or jump-starting another vehicle.

It's going to depend on what someone may or may not want any given tool for.

It depends on their need, or lack of, budget and so on.
2 JTs and a JLU - still no tazer, nor need or desire.
I'm more of the type that wants tools for diagnostics, to change certain settings, and so on.
If I did live where you may need sway bar disconnects - I'd get the manual type and skip the electric version.
There's simply no need or desire - for myself and actually the majority of Jeep owners.
There for others, so let them "go for it".
I still have not spent the $$ a tazer would have cost me, with it just sitting there most of the time.

It's one option, not the only one. However, a few believe you don't REALLY own a Jeep and aren't a REAL Jeep person if you don't have one (yawn). Whatever.

OPTIONS - there's a lot of them.

It's physically connected but no longer doing what it's supposed to do, like turn off the plate lights in reverse. To get it to work I have to unmarry and re-marry the unit, then reset all my settings.

So it's physically plugged in but not connected - as in "not talking to the truck".

What happened to the guy making harnesses to shut off the license plate lights when the backup camera comes on?
I just installed this yesterday, and the result is exactly what you want if the glare bothers you.

The instructions were clear, and if you have any experience working on cars the process is very quick. His assembly quality is way beyond most eBay specials.
