I’m looking at both the ‘BAK Revolver X4S’ or ‘TRUXEDO SENTRY CT’ tonneau .

I believe they both say they mount “w/ or w/o Trail Rail.”

I don’t have the trail rail. Anyone use either cover without trail rail? How does it attach?

My Tundra uses aluminum clamps under the bed rail, and I’m not a fan of this method.

I would like to use one of these covers with a full Bedrug and a t-slot mounted ski rack, if that helps.

Thanks!

BAK connects to the bulkhead using the holes at each side. It also connects to holes on the bedsides that are under the plastic bed cap. If you look close you'll see little rectangles in the bed cap, if you lift those up you'll find the holes. Take a razor knife or Exacto blade and score the lines of the rectangles and you can remove them.

Is it a rigid connection? My Retrax with the aluminum clamps on the Tundra loosens up over time, the clamps can fall off, and it never really sits flush in the back.

And the clamps scratch the paint.

Thanks!

In the bulkhead they provide you special hardware to use the holes, it's a bolt up.

Bedsides have threaded holes, it's a bolt up.

If I remember correctly, there are 2 clamps up at the bulkhead end to anchor the base that cover is connected to.

Been too long and I have too much schtuff in the way to see it.

I been thinking of going the BAK Revolver myself, what paint does it scratch? I have a bed liner in so not worried about that getting scratched.

No, the Retrax was the problem, not the BAK.

I have not installed the BAK, just looking for advice.

I am leaning toward the BAK Revolver X4S, because I need the t-slots to mount a ski rack.

You can always use a thread lock to go on each screw to help keep things from shaking loose over time. Id still recommend checking though just because it’s in the bed and the bed inevitably flexes.

I don't have a Bakflip cover on my JTR but had one on a 2014 F150 that I rolled and was able to sale the cover to someone else because it survived the rollover with only one bent rail. Tough covers for sure. I believe it was the Bakflip F1 that i had then

I have the BAK and it has been solid for over a year now. Have an Xtrusion rack with it and it works seamlessly. I do not have the trail rails either.

I've been using Truxedo covers since 2005.
Now, I haven't tried their hard roll-up cover, but with the LoPro soft roll-up, they offer a lifetime warranty, and they honor it!
I've completely rebuilt the cover on my 2006 SuperDuty, no questions asked.
The JT cover needed additional parts (due to Jeep changing things,) and I had them next day.
Truxedo makes a quality product, and their customer service is second to none.

I bought the BAK Revolver X4S and Classic Bedrug from RealTruck. Fast shipping, easy install.

They go well together… good combination.

I might go AirBedz with a bed tent next and go explore some Colorado backcountry!

I also have the Bak Revolver, the complete Bedrug, and a Rightline bed tent. They work well together, just watch your head and keep your bedding low, like 2-4"s.
Also it was 20° here yesterday in coastal, VA and my cover was frozen shut, so be careful if you live any place below freezing.
