So, what you're saying is, Chinese junk that is cheap is an indicator of quality?
Tell that to the turbo on my C10 that's been making 700 rwhp for six years.

Or 90% of the products in your life

Including the cheaper Chinese made stamping and molding tools used to make your Gladiator

Chinese manufacturing is like a petulant child. They are fine so long as there is a constant thumb on them to ensure the quality is there by the parent company/importer on their ass 24/7 auditing.

There is just a lot areas for backsliding and third shift knock off manufacturing. Most Chinese manufacturing concerns are not vertically integrated well and really have problems with their suppliers and suppliers, suppliers feeding the supply chain with dubious material as well.

Had about 1.5" of plastic failure in the steel, as well as the beginning of the gusset tearing apart.

Also of note, shackle mounts are welded directly to the face of this steel, which is scary.

Put a flat winch plate under it.

Apparently some models of their bumpers come with them.

In terms of impacts, it's still more durable than the factory plastic at least.

I would still wonder about that. The factory bumper still has a metal reinforcement underlay that at least has gone through some type of crash rating standards.

These aftermarket bumpers and especially these thin gauge off shore made ones I doubt have any crash rating design or testing behind them. More metal does not necessarily make it more structurally sound or safer.

The thick, expensive, USA made one I replaced it with after I sent the Fishbone back also, does not have any crash rating design or testing either lol.

And you can't stop the laws of physics anyway, or that hillbilly 3" sewer pipe full of cement would be the end all be all.

You can, however, rub up against a tree, root, branch and have the Jeep guided off to the side Vs having a piece of sheet metal crumple.

I'll start my response on this one with your next to last bullet point on 3in sewer pipe. That one hit me close by a experience I had in 99 on TDY. A Jackass driving his pos Nissan with just that type of bumper decided to blow off being stuck in traffic at light started around many other car and trucks T-boned the rental car I was on way to drop off to fly out. Note: government travel rentals are not allowed to purchase the supplement insurance, government travel C.C. have to be paid off at billing date or 20-25% interest "then". Car totaled and I'm stuck on side of road few miles from airport. Missed flight stuck there for another day or so. Total cost of car charged on my travel C.C. on top of rental fees, hotels and flights. This situation wasn't funny, to get a C.C. bill for about 30k or so. Along with the police report not finished. FYI: the S### head didn't have insurance. So my driving record / insurance took a hit too. For not at fault accident.

Back on the bumper subject, I've got the same bumper (sold for JK) on my JT. I've used it on a few winch pulls and haven't seen any issues yet. Many of these uses have been on bottom wrap of line. I definitely don't think it's a great bumper and was thinking of making some changes of it.
My primary reason for me buying it was front end protection from deer. Now on that 16 July I was towing a friend's trailer to his house to drop off his newly failed new zero turn mower at shop. A vehicle on I-state had sheet of OSB or plywood fly off the bumper and winch took the hit at about 69 mph.

The first picture is after I got off I-state and could look for damage, that's wood in the fairlead. Second I just took. There is quite a few companies selling this bumper under their name. As I know it's a cheap one the crappy coating has came off in places on mine. I've chipped loose off and rattle canned spots. My first choice would be ARB's bumper not in my budget though. The ARB product that I do like. That said I could be given a complete ARB air lockers system and free installation and I'd pass on it. Warn bumper is another great example of quality. If a Tomkin bumper was available for my JT it would have been my first choice since I've had 3 others and parts for my Jeeps.

I know some people won't be able to help themselves from leaving some kind of Chinese junk comment as if price is the sole indicator of quality and we should all just buy the most expensive thing in any category irregardless of any other consideration ever like we're the government... Have a blast.

With that out of the way, this bumper is junk as delivered. Rated for a 12,000 lb winch, has a 10,000 lb winch on it, in one pull warped itself about 2" up from level and twisted the winch so hard it may be beyond redemption as well.

If you're thinking of buying one, I'd take a hard pass, as I could have been seriously injured here and I really wouldn't want to see anyone get hurt or die using a product as intended.

Always winch with hood up, an extra piece of metal between your face and the winch point never hurts. Was this a straight line pull or was line hammered to one side of the fairlead? Winches are pretty tough, did it damage it?

This thing has been long gone off my truck for nearly two months now.

My LOD bumper works great, 4 pulls on it, 1 tree, no bends.

Winch chassis was twisted, it also went back at the same time as the bumpers.
