Battery and ?? Issues

Ok I got battery issues, got a new one (not installed yet). But I have a couple questions:
What is this round red light below tach (see pic)?
Should the engine run once jumped even if battery dead?

History: Would not start, jumped and ran perfect but had red light mentioned above, stopped and started a couple times..... Day later dead.

Now jumped and runs but press brake. headlights dim, radio goes off.

SO unless the battery is shorted, shouldnt the thing run off the alternator once started?

Seems I lost all my "old school" knowledge and am dumb LOL

It is not going to like running off the alternator alone. Often it will shut down rather than risk damage to the electrical system. If you have a bad battery, you need to replace it before running again.

As for the red light, that's the security light. It's likely illuminated due to your battery issues. Going through the battery install and IBS reset procedure should clear that along with the other warnings.
