I removed the negative terminal for the aux battery at the main. No trouble. I'm not replacing two batteries every 3 years.
My Batteries are 6 years old. Could be older since my build date is 12/2019. Could be newer since I bought it new in 12/2020, but I doubt they had been replaced. In my years of ownership, I had isolated and charged my batteries not long after I bought it, due to ESS not functioning and the battery charging. That wasn't my only reason to charge my batteries. I had disconnected the main ground before installing mt winch and aftermarket aux switches. The batteries were disconnected for about a week. When I had it all buttoned up, I got dash lights but the start button did nothing. After disconnecting the batteries, I found both to be very low. I want to say it was 12.2vdc. I charged both batteries and ESS has worked like it should for the most part.

With the way I drive the JT, I have found that I would see the battery charging message remain on for longer times. At this point I would simply connect the charger overnight. This became a norm, so I connected a NOCO genius 2d to the main. This made it possible to connect the charger without opening the hood.
