My Batteries are 6 years old. Could be older since my build date is 12/2019. Could be newer since I bought it new in 12/2020, but I doubt they had been replaced. In my years of ownership, I had isolated and charged my batteries not long after I bought it, due to ESS not functioning and the battery charging. That wasn't my only reason to charge my batteries. I had disconnected the main ground before installing mt winch and aftermarket aux switches. The batteries were disconnected for about a week. When I had it all buttoned up, I got dash lights but the start button did nothing. After disconnecting the batteries, I found both to be very low. I want to say it was 12.2vdc. I charged both batteries and ESS has worked like it should for the most part.I removed the negative terminal for the aux battery at the main. No trouble. I'm not replacing two batteries every 3 years.
With the way I drive the JT, I have found that I would see the battery charging message remain on for longer times. At this point I would simply connect the charger overnight. This became a norm, so I connected a NOCO genius 2d to the main. This made it possible to connect the charger without opening the hood.
