21 Eco Diesel. Jeep wouldn’t start so took to dealer. They tested it and said both batteries were dead and would not cover under warranty due to my accessories.

I went and bought a new battery and installed it. I disconnected the auto start ground and pulled fuse 42. When I started the jeep the air bag light was on and I had no Sirius radio. I was still at the dealer and asked them to pull the codes. Came back with an ignition circuit error code. I put the fuse back in and left the ground disconnected. Jeep started and the air bag code was gone and still had no Sirius . Is there another way to bypass the aux battery so I don’t have to replace it?

The head unit can take up to 24 hours to fully recover after power loss.

Fuse 42 just prevents the relay from working during the Aux battery startup test so that the reading it takes comes from the Main battery. It prevents the error light on the dash for the Aux battery test failure.

The Main battery and Aux battery are paralleled together all the time, except during ESS events and the startup test. If you always turn ESS off with the dash button, it's okay to remove the Aux battery. If not, just replace it.

Hopefully, none of the high current fuses were blown. That can happen if you are not careful with the battery cables when disconnecting them. It is the array on the N posts on the side of the fuse box. It's about $70 for the part.

Still trying to process this. What do accessories have to do with the battery? Are they accessories that run 24/7 or modify the charging system in some way? Jeep literally sells an aux button system for truck for adding accessories.

I read this post last night and started laughing because my battery literally just took a dump.

My luck ran out. Dead battery. Over the last week I noticed when I locked the vehicle with the remote the horn chirp sounded a tad weak… for some reason, I didn’t link it with the dead battery.

I pulled out the old charging brick that showed to be full with four lights, went in and tried to start it and got about a quarter of a turn, went and looked at the charging brick and it was down to two lights. I’m not sure if it was a faulty, four light reading and it actually needed to be charged or after one attempt to start it sucked that much juice out of the brick or if the Viking charging brick from Harbor freight just sucks.
