Love seeing the older John Deeres. I have a 1980 Deere 317. It's on it's second engine (replaced around 1998 or '99). The thing's a tank. It's now been regulated to a yard tug, pulling around the little trailer doing yard chores. My sister's idiot of a husband f*cked up the mower deck several years ago so that went buh-bye. I do remember at one time we did have a snow plow for the front but when Dad got older he decided that it was better (for him) to have someone else plow the driveway so the plow was long since sold off. The silly thing still starts up and runs but it's starting to really show it's age...the second motor is like over 23 years old as well. When that dies, so does the tractor as one cannot get a new(er) motor for it

Yessir - agreed. Those are 455s....diesels. I'll buy one of those used any day. They'll last forever if you take care of them.
