Well, apparently I was scammed by a member (or stolen account of a member?) as he promised shipping info today and I logged in to see that he has been banned :-(

20+ years of buying stuff on line and this is the first time, shame my lessen in trust cost me $1500. The listing offered local pick up and the apparent lie that he was a Marine (I'm retired USAF) set me at ease. Shame on me...

I'll file a police report and provide them his banking info as well as provide his bank a copy of the police report. Nothing will come of it...

Anyway, just hoping my loss will be a cautionary tale and maybe save someone else from being ripped off.
If you live long enough you are going to get screwed by someone. Happens to us all, whether or not we admit it to others. Other than ebay, I don't buy from any site other than reputable vendors. Just not worth a few bucks savings. Don't write off the police on this too quickly, sometimes they can help...............sometimes. Good luck to you.

Different sites handle them differently, so be pleased if they provide some info, but not surprised if they say you need a warrant.

I was admin on a site for years that trafficked much higher value items routinely. I'd try to help people whenever asked, and tried to pre-check anyone in question if asked.
Only one a I ever got wrong was an International Airline pilot. That guy's IP's were all over the place 😄
Try figuring out IP addresses and locations if the person/member us behind cellular data.
You never know what my router's IP address will be. If I tell a browser on our computer to "use current location" it could show us as being in Michigan or Wisconsin or some other state.

I have to ask , you been told why he was banned by the site, most are for improper conversations or comments. I have not read any where he was banned cause he is scamming you , other than people guessing that is it. Could it be he made a stupid comment was reported and banned and can’t reach out to you?….Jack

Shame thieves are coddled in many states..... I hate thieves
Sadly, the states have nothing to do with or care about; wire fraud is in the prevue of the FBI.

I work in cyber security at the national level with outreach to other federal agencies and some time trickles down to the state and local jurisdictions

If I'm correct, it's because it's "interstate" - like credit card fraud and such because it crosses state lines, it's a federal thing.

When I found the IT guy using bit torrent to grab movies and music (on state equipment), the locals were chomping at the bit. The then Polk County attorney contacted me directly and said he wanted the guy really badly - state DCI said no, it's a federal thing - the FBI met with me, and in the end said they didn't have enough "resources".
The guy broke multiple laws and policies just using the state equipment in the process, not to mention the time he was spending in a storage room setting up the computers to handle the piracy.
Lack of resources and on our end, "saving face" - can't do much because it would give the state boys a bad look. Even the ISU comp sci head made comments on the ISU web site about bad it was, but was careful not to name names or go too far.

Was this for a Clayton lift by chance?

I saw an ad for a $1,500 Clayton lift that I don't remember the details on other than price, but it seemed to good to be true.

The mods/admin can/will ban someone who never even posts in the public forums areas but only sends PMs offering to sell, or places an ad that goes against the rules.
I've reported at least two people who contacted me with offers to sell something, and I couldn't find a single public post from them (and the offers were easy for me to spot - it smells of rotted whale meat, although I have to ask Russ what that smells like)

It was in Florence, OR in 1970.
Roughly 2000 pounds of dynamite was used. A veteran with explosives training was quoted at the time as saying 20 sticks would be plenty.
The guy in charge was only in charge because the supervisor was out of town on vacation.

Yes, the video is worth watching. I've seen videos of it multiple times through out the years.

Explosives calculation: Mass of the object, divided by the burn rate of the explosive to be used, multiply that by P.

P stands for "plenty".

Stand back.

I grew up in Eugene Oregon, that video is nearly as famous as Animal House & Shout! at Oregon Football games. Best class I had in Junior High was PNW History, teacher knew how to get a bunch of boys to pay attention by showing that movie clip on day 1!
