What I'm going with. Diamondback HD and then some frontrunner bars (only on if camping/kayaking)

I am going this route as well. For me it will have the best features with the least amount of compromises at the best price point.

Backflip says it has a 500lb weight rating, but curious how it can handle that load offroad as it moves from side to side. You can see the sides flop around in this install video.

It seems like a good option for lighter loads on the street, however. Plus you get the security of a folding cover.

Ahhh, this must be the one for the Colorado! I need to call them then and find out what the difference between the CS and CS-F1 is, aside from a few hundred $$$’s.

I am stuck on this too. I ordered a gator rubicon with the tonneau cover, but will eventually have to haul a 12 foot fishing kayak. I should have skipped the tonneau on the order as it seems I will have to ditch it and try to go with something else. I will need an over cab hauler, but want to keep a bed cover closed. The YAKIMA system looks great, will that work with any tonneau?

Ok, so I've been digging into this a bit more. Of the roll-up tonneau options, there is the Truck Covers USA version and Pace-Edwards has released the Jackrabbit in various finishes for the JT (original, original matte, full-metal, full-metal matte).

Yakima has their OutpostHD and OverhaulHD bed racks, and apparently they can be made to work with the Pace-Edwards Ultragroove cover if you use Yakima's Tonneau Kit 1.

I've emailed Yakima to see if the Tonneau Kit would work with the Jackrabbit, and Pace-Edwards to see if there is a difference between the Jackrabbit and Ultragroove that would keep it from working. I've also asked if they plan to release an Ultragroove for the JT.

While I was at it, I emailed Retrax to see what the latest response will be regarding a cover for the JT.

I will report back when/if I hear from any of them. :movember:

Ok, I think I answered my own question about the Jackrabbit vs. the Ultragroove and the Yakima. It took me watching the install video for the Yakima Tonneau Kit to get it.

The Jackrabbit sides are like this:

The Ultragroove are like this:

Hence the "groove" portion of the name! :bandit:

The Yakima Tonneau Kit has t-nut fasteners that slide into the grooves of the Ultragroove.

But all hope is not lost! Pace-Edwards has the Explorer Series Rails for the Jackrabbit that should work. They mount on top of the Jackrabbit rails like so:

Seems to me this will work, which I will confirm.

An original Jackrabbit is $1325 on their website; the full metal version is $1833. The Explorer Rails are about $400.

The Yakima OutPost base racks are $1230; the OverHaul is $1530.

Damn John how do you have so many awesome vehicles?! How do you like that Ducati?
I have an understanding wife! The scrambler is super fun. It only weighs around 400 lbs so is pretty easy to throw around a bit. I mainly use it to run around to pickleball games and errands, which works great as the bike is the most fun between 20-50 mph. Lots of low end kick. The Shelby is really fun. The flat plane crank engine is better than any radio so I drive it with the windows down all the time. I do like my toys! I am selling the 4 runner to make room for the gladiator I have on order.

How is the triumph? I dig those bikes.

Very cool. The rocket 3 roadster is pretty sweet. Its like a big comfortable couch on a rocket. That big 2300 cc engine is crazy. Its only 5 speed but the 5 speed can carry you way over 130 and I remember still having plenty of rpms left if i wanted to keep going. Its sad, but i'm going to sell it. I used to ride it every day to work, but now i take my boy to daycare everyday so no more riding for me. Seeing it sit there for the last couple weeks is rough.

BTW did you see the new triumph scrambler? I sat on one at the overland expo and it is awesome!

I don’t ride my scrambler as often as I should either. I have two kids so solo trips somewhere are rare!

I'd love to get a sidecar for it and drive the kid and dog around. It'll cost about 10k so I'll ask my wife if my boy really needs to go to college or not? Honestly, I'll probably get a onewheel and just tow the kid around. Might be the only option for now.
