Does anyone have experience or advice on the difference between these 2?

Bestop Bimini Cable: https://www.quadratec.com/p/bestop/header-cable-style-safari-bikini-top-gladiator-jt

Bestop Bimini (non) cable: https://www.quadratec.com/p/bestop/header-safari-bikini-top-gladiator-jt

The cable style looks like a much cleaner setup (fewer straps), but looks like it requires factory cable style door surrounds-- what are those? Are those extra parts that I would not have a soft top? I have a 2021 JT with a factory hard top.

Thanks in advance.

I currently have the cable style on my JKU. Definitely need the door surrounds from a soft top. (Hard plastic pieces that go around the doors for the weather stripping.)

So, pro & con.
Pro: The cable system is tighter. The surrounds come with ribs that help hold up canvas, which helps with water shedding. I can leave it out in the rain and not worry about water pooling on the top. (Since I don’t have the other kind, I don’t know if water pools.)
Con: Cost - If you don’t have a soft top, then you need to buy the surrounds for almost double the cost of the canvas.

(Leaving it out in the rain: the carpet will still get wet if you don’t have the doors on. Day three of trying to get the carpets dried out. This weather pattern in MI is not helping.)

@ GoGreen Spartan-- many thanks. Go White! Fellow Spartan, here; class of 1993.

So, seeing how the surrounds add so much to the cost; I am wondering if there is some other Bikini style top out there that looks as clean and tight as the cable style.

This MasterTop also looks pretty cool, but again-- lots of straps and not very tidy.

I guess; that might be the nature of the beast-- just wondering if anyone else is seeing a cleaner top out there.

Again, thanks in advance for any further input.

If you have a smaller dehumidifier, throw it in the back overnight. By the morning the Jeep will be bone dry.
