Any one else have this issue, passenger side cable wouldn’t go into place to hold tail gate open. Took ofc the bracket only to find the piece was welded to far forward thus preventing the cable from going behind it.
Loosened it and held bracelet back and retighten it. Now cable will snap into place and snap out I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before this breaks the bracket. May drill the bracket hold out a bit and put a washer so it can be held back for easy use but don’t want to risk busting the bracket I’m sure it’s not cheap. Maybe FCA will send me one to try it. Doubt they would cut into it to fix it lol
Here’s a pic

I see what ur saying... the welded insert is not centered in the precut hole therefore the lil cable thingy is too close to the actual bed to allow the cable to fit behind it as it should.

I had the exact same problem happen with my right cable a few days ago. I had to tap it into place with a screwdriver and a hammer. Also had to pry it back out to get the cable free. Will get my dealership to check it out whenever I have a need to take it to their service department.

Maybe we’ll get me beds because of it

So my right one takes effort to push the cable all the way. Instead of all this or taking it to the dealer can't I just shave off a piece of the bracket? I mean, it's just plastic right?

It’s under warranty, a free fix. Try to shave it down and break the clip and then be ready to hear the dealership say that you voided the warranty by trying to fix it yourself. Your risk/your call.

Yeah but it's so seemingly minor that I fear they screw something else up in the process. One of those 'choose your battles' type deals.

When I saw that those were made of plastic, my initial reaction was, "Someone's surely going to make some stronger ones out of metal."

Anyone know what size that cable bolt is? Can’t find the proper fitment and don’t wanna strip it.
