So, we just replaced the tires on my wife's 2022 JLU SS and my 2020 JT SS - stayed with the same stock size: 245/75R17; the only change is going from the OEM All-Season tires to the KO3 All-Terrain tires. We don't really feel any difference as far as ride or handling, but both vehicles have dropped their average MPG from 25 to 22 MPG! I attribute that to the fact that the KO3's are heavier than the OEM tires, and the tread is more aggressive - still happy with the result!

aggressive looking treads cost money. There's a reason Rubicon and Mojave mpgs are garbage compared to Sports: Street Tires.

I don't know how anyone is seeing 25mpg in a JT or JL with the 3.6L. Even stock I didn't see 20mpg. On 37 in the JT and 39s in the JLUR its 12-13mpg at best.

I don’t see how it could make that much of a difference. I never got 25 mpg stock, but I noticed no difference in mpg going from 255/70/18 all season tires to 285/70/18 E load all terrain. Granted they are light for E load. I’ve always got 21-23 hwy depending on conditions and how fast I drive. 16-17 in city driving. I still get the same now.

Street tires for one. Your mojave never had them, and thus never had a chance. My old willys use to get 19 on the loud OEM A/Ts, My mojave started at 17 before i threw on 35s. Sports start on skinny streeters

Going from all season to all terrain made no difference in mpg for me. Even going up from 255 to 285.

I just don't see the tires being an inch smaller increasing fuel economy by 25%+. Maybe if you drive around at 55mph, coast to every stop sign, and take 3 business days to a accelerate. Like sized tires that weigh a few pounds more and have a slightly more aggressive tread shouldn't cost 3 mpg either.

I'm an old phart, and drive like one! I use the cruise control ALL THE TIME - leaving our house, we are about 1 mile down a one-lane country road to the highway. Once on the highway it's at least 12 miles in any direction to a town, with the speed limit of 55, or 40, or 30 in places. If we need to go farther it's onto the interstate, at 70 mph. Using cruise control means the speed is more tightly regulated that our right foot can do.

When we moved from California to Tennessee I drove our motorhome, towing my JT, and the wife follewed behind me in her JLU. I had the motorhome's cruise control set on 60 mph the entire time on I40, and she drove without cruise control - she actually got up to 35 mpg average on that trip! Decent fuel economy is possible with judicious use of the skinny pedal!

I use the cruise control all the time, but set at 80 mph it's just not going to be good fuel economy in a lifted box on big tires. Granted I could get better fuel economy driving slow, but it's 600 miles 1 way to our AZ property and we do that every 4-6weeks. 7 hours at 85mph or 10hrs at 60mph? I'll just buy gas. Of course I wouldn't trust car sized tires to even get us to our AZ property let alone wheeling. When the driveway looks like this, car tires are out.

But that can't be near as much fun
