So I just picked up some 39” BFG KM3 tires that I’m trying to install on my KMC Grenades. At first I wasn't thinking I’d need a ring spacer. Local shop that installs these tires with KMC all the time says he has never used them. Well when I get to torque setting, the ring is just barely not meeting the wheel. When first I installEd them they were touching wheel but I believe my torque setting was too high. I had to replace TPMS sensors so they had to get taken apart. Got a Snap On torque wrench and it seems less than an 1/8” gap. So I believe that I need the spacers but am worried since the ring spacers are 1/4” thick, that would mean less pinch on the bead. Should I worry about that?
Has anyone seen that they have needed a ring spacer with the KM3 or if anyone has information that the KM3 has a thicker bead than other tires? Any information would greatly help. TIA.
