Blindspot Monitor Issue

Drove some gravel and dirt roads this weekend and probably within the first mile I noticed the blindspot indicators were lit up on both mirrors. It's a narrow road, so I just assumed the sensors were detecting the brush being close to the rear.

Got back to tarmac and the indicators in the mirrors remained lit up. Found a spot to pull over and looked at the rear lights where the sensors are housed and no damage, nothing out of the ordinary. Just covered in dust. Grapped a rag and wiped the dust off and boom everything back to normal.

Anyone else have their blindspot monitors stay on after being covered in dust?

Yes happened to me as well. Wiped the sensor and all is fine.

The same thing will happen if the sensors are covered in ice, say from driving in freezing rain.

Ah good to know. This is my first vehicle with the blindspot sensors so good to know what to expect.
