Has anyone had an issue with the BT dropping when driving by cell/radio towers. It is happening in my '25 Gladiator NH. I listen to an app via android auto and it disconnects and resets when in proximity of radio towers.

Same here. I've been searching for a fix. Same spot in my commute. But it's the wifi in my case that disconnects Apple CarPlay.

I originally thought it was my phone, but I tried my wife's phone and it did the same thing.

I have a similar area I pass where XM always drops but haven't noticed CarPlay dropping. Will have to monitor more closely.

It drops in both Jeeps on different iPhones. It also dropped when I ran one of those dongles that allows for wireless connections. So, it's not the Jeeps. I don't have Android (must... obey... Apple...). Ooops, lost consciousness for a minute. So, I can't say if it's specific to Apple where I'm passing the tower. But if it's doing the same for you I would doubt that. I have noticed that there is a wifi on which the phone attaches for CarPlay. it is titled with Android in the name. I know that CarPlay uses this and it disconnects near the towers. I also have to turn off CarPlay to connect to my wifi dash cam or it will drop that and reconnect to the Android wifi name. Also, it only happens on the way to work. I pass the same spot on the other side of a divided highway coming home without interruption.

@Hoskjo

Actually, it is your WiFi that is being stepped on with resulting disconnects..

Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge there is no way in UConnect settings to change the WiFi channel to a higher #. To a higher channel that is not as prone to being stepped on.

On say a JT or JL that leaves the factory without wireless Android Auto....... If you were achieving wireless Android Auto with an AAWireless dongle that incorporates a dedicated to AAWireless dongle app, you would be less app to see such WiFi disconnects. With AAWireless, you choose / use a channel (set with the app) that is not stepped on and then you'd not lose connection / have a drop out.. Interference is less on the upper WiFi channels.

For the record... In regard to an Android Auto wireless dongle, the pick of the litter for use in a JT or a JL is the AAWireless dongle. Thanks partly that AAWireless dongle works with the dedicated app I mentioned earlier in this post.

So would the solution be to use an AAWireless dongle in place of the Uconnect 5 built-in WiFi?

I think the solution to this is to plug in and use the USB cable for the signal, instead of wifi. this happens in my other car too (not a Jeep) and it's always in the same area. I think it's a microwave type directional radio that's strong enough to interfere with the wifi (2.4gGhz or 5Ghz), long enough for the connection to error out. If I drive through the interference fast enough it will recover, but if I'm too slow it will drop the Android Auto connection.

I tried the USB-C connection in the media port. The phone showed that it was receiving a charge but it still dropped. Must I be plugged in to the USB-A port or delete the phone from WiFi connections?

It wouldn't bother me if it reconnected but, since moving to an iPhone 16, it will not always reconnect yet show connected on the phone.

I haven't actually tried using the wired AA in the Gladiator but I do this in our BMW X7 to avoid the disconnect, so in theory it should work. See if turning off wifi on the phone helps since it might continue to try using the wireless connection. You might also try to delete and re-add the phone to the Gladiator too? I'm guessing here since I haven't done this on ours, just on the BMW.

I have a spot downtown that it tries to drop but only glitches out for a few seconds. I've tried to figure out what causes it, but I can't spot anything. It's about a block and a half from a police station, maybe I'm getting a signal reflecting off of a building.

I drove a Ford that lost the fuel pump anywhere within a couple of blocks of a local TV station, so I guess I can live with a music annoyance.
