Thanks for all of the feedback. Based on your comments, my guess is that I have a problem with the brakes on my vehicle - I'll get them checked next week.

As I said above, the problem that I have is that they are inconsistent - sometimes don't brake enough toward the end of a stop, sometimes they grab.

I'm coming off of two JKU's and also own a Grand Cherokee (my 8th, I think). I don't think it's a "Jeep thing" or that I need to "learn the brakes". If most of you say they are really good, and mine aren't, it's probably a problem with my vehicle. That's what I was looking for.

I see your vehicle list - my wife traded her 2018 Grand Cherokee for a 2021 last fall. Nothing wrong with her 2018, I just told her if she loved that platform that it was nearing the end and the 2021 was going to change -a lot. The pandemic delayed that change-over (engineering was delayed) so she placed her order for her current 2021. Minor changes to some interior things, I like the seats better - not as hard, IMO, and the center radio cluster "sticks out" just a bit more. She loves her Grand Cherokees. The only thing I have to be careful with when driving her vehicle (when she gives me permission in the form of "go take my Jeep and fill the tank", the steering is QUICK on those. Don't move the steering wheel unless you want to turn or change lanes. It does exactly what you tell it to do, and not anything less. The brakes are excellent on it, too. And they are sure-footed as heck in all weather.

Yeah, the Grand Cherokee is a 2018 Overland - absolutely excellent vehicle. Very comfortable, very responsive, ergonomically very good, all the safety features, the closest to perfect of any vehicle I've owned, including two 325i convertibles. We have the panoramic room, but it's still not the same as actually taking the top off.

Sort of funny, last fall when we decided the prices were great on used trades, and she was approaching her time for trading, I told her to look around, check out other Jeeps, even other vehicles - she ran right back to Grand Cherokee. Since she and her "quilting friends" take frequent road trips to quilt shops and retreats and other get-togethers, they are often in other vehicles - and she keeps coming back to her Grand Cherokee.

I definitely feel like my brakes are “grabby”. Was thinking about having it looked at the first time mine is in for service. I have a Max Tow with bigger brakes so I kind of chalked it up to that

DEPENDING on the miles on yours, I found the "grabby" bit that mine had the first few weeks or even months eventually settled down.
Makes sense - the surface of the rotor smooths out, the surface of the pads smooths and changes with heat, etc.
Of course - there's a lot of "depends" in there, YMMV.

I’m only at 2600 miles so maybe it will go away. Maybe the 35s that are going on it will help too lol

My JT brakes are as good as any vehicle I owned. I have had a couple of instances where the engine kept pushing the truck for a brief moment. I chalked it up to the computer learning the balance of engine braking vs fuel economy.
This is what mine does at some stops its pretty annoying. I get a push from the engine as I am trying to slow down. Came to see if it is common. I don't drive a lot of autos but none act like this thing does.

That's odd - mine has never done that. In fact, it knows when I'm slowing down and works with me, not against me. It'll downshift and actually use engine braking depending on how I use the brakes.
Has anyone watched the tachometer to see if the engine is revving at that time? IF it's not, then it's not the engine.
Mine drops back nicely. If I let up on the brakes it moves slowly forward like any other automatic I've ever driven.
In short - mine acts like all of my other automatic vehicles other than it's smart braking and smart downshifting methods. Love it.

Yeah its like it downshifts and then it pushes instead of engine brakes. I dunno will have to look into it further but when I stop gradually its apply brakes truck slows, it then pushes, I apply brakes a little harder and it stops. it has to be the down shift.

That's the opposite of mine - when it downshifts it's using engine braking, no surge or push.

Mine rarely does the “push” but it will get your attention when it does. For a split second you go into WTF mode and give it more brake than usual which then seems to let it coast. I can‘t duplicate it at will. With the rare occurrence, I can’t say I have a sense of what situation causes the behavior.

it hasn’t really put me in jeopardy to date but has spawned a few .5 - .7 seconds of ”Oh Sh#$”
