Hey everyone,

I have been reading all over the forums/ internet and I think I am more lost than when I when I started.

Here's the upcoming situation. My wife and I have a tripped plan to Zion for our 5 year in a couple weeks. We are going to pull our Apex Ultralight from Orange, CA to Zion, UT with our JTRD. I wasn't thinking too much of the voyage, until I was.

I pulled the new trailer home to California last year form East texas through the snow and the rain without any problems using the Redarc brake controller and Andersen Anti-sway hitch. I was riding on 37" Wildpeaks then.

Since then, the trailer has undoubtedly gained some weight, I have added the Clayton 3.5 Overland+ / Adjustable Falcon SP2.2's and switched over to KM3's.

I don't anticipate any problems but I have also never made this trek before so I wanted to make sure I was prepared. I was reading up on how I might need some chains, possibly on one axle of the tow vehicle and one axle of the trailer. Considering I didn't need any to get home last year I was debating on just grabbing some Autosocks to have on hand to show off to highway patrol if required? Maybe some cables would be a better investment, even though the chances of every using them are rare? I wouldn't imaging I would need true chains, but what I do I know?

Any advice to reinforcing the the 37's? In fact, I'll take advice all all fronts; Driving, the route, towing, camping in snow and things to do in Zion, etc. Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't need chains. Daytime Temps average around 55, nighttime you can see sub freezing, and if you do get snow at night, it is usually gone by noon.

There are lots of great hikes, my favorite is The Narrows, but check with the park rangers because it does experience flash floods in winter and those can be quite deadly.

I do not think that you would need chains .
what you will need is a dune flag , because if you are in the neighborhood you will need to stop by Sand Hollow and do some wheeling.
