I’m using a CarPlay2Air. It’s a few years old. I’ve heard mixed things about it and it’s definitely janky Chinesium. I stopped updating the thing a few years ago because people claimed the updates were bricking them. It’s since worked reliably. It’s more reliable than the phone. It recognized by Uconnect 100% of the time until the other day. The iPhone across every one I’ve had in over 2 years (5 maybe) connects to it probably 95% of the time. Occasionally it gets stuck where the iPhone will not connect. But I know that some of that, maybe most of that is Apple jacking up CarPlay with their seemingly untested updates. Around 16.1 Apple made some change where WiFi seems to mess with CarPlay. When it doesn’t work right, I simply unplug the dongle and plug it back in and it usually starts working. I always plug mine in to the USB C plug in the dash with a USB-A to C adapter. The center console plug isn’t reliable for CarPlay.

I don’t know the current lay of the land with what’s out there and what’s best anymore. Maybe there are far better dongles at this point. Maybe CarPlay2Air works even better. There wasn’t a lot to choose from 2 years ago, but I’ve been very satisfied with what I got.

My center console Qi charger is this https://leatherseats.com/shop/inter...rging-consoles/jt-gladiator-charging-console/.

It’s been awesome.

My dealer couldn’t replicate which was a foregone conclusion since CarPlay had started working. They did say Uconnect needed an update and my service writer told me to keep and on it over the next week in case it happens again.

You know years back I had a tundra and did something similar. I’ve been wanting the same, THANK YOU, definitely going to order one.

That said, I have a Carlinkit “pro” and sometimes my dongle freezes, but it’s been better. My Jeep grand Cherokee when I had it had the same
Issue as yours, turned out the dongle I was using was telling the Uconnect system conflicting commands, to show projection and immediately not show, so it would lock it out. I got a new dongle and never had a problem again. Same Uconnect system as the gladiator.

Maybe not the same issue, but I figured worth telling you

I’ve had my carplay stop working a couple times. Everytime it happens, I just ignore it, then the next day it starts working again. My theory was it would go out temporarily during automatic updates.

This is a good point. However, the dongle isn’t questionable per se. It’s worked essentially flawlessly for 2 years.
Gotta ask - does working for 2 years mean it's still working?
Electronics fail at power up almost any time there's a failure. So is it unreasonable to think that this device finally died?
I can point at a lot of things that have worked flawlessly for years - until they don't.
I'm not saying that it is the problem, I'm simply saying you can't discount it because it's worked flawlessly for 2 years. All things work fine until they don't. Cables work until they don't. My last phone worked perfectly until it didn't. Then suddenly, without notice..........
Just saying..............
I've been involved in electronics long enough to know that an item can work fine one direction and work fine in another direction, but when all things are supposed to work together, they don't.
