CarPlay Tips & Tricks???

I searched but did not see anything like this on here yet. Was hoping someone could tell me how to get my carplay screen not to jump off of what I am currently seeing each time I click on it to hear a text message? Super annoying. Thought others might have some cool things to share also. There was a thread like this over on TacomaWorld which made me think of it.

What phone model do you have?
The more recent iOS update changed Siri/text/voice overlay to not change the screen and to just display over currents as semi-transparent.

Make sure your iPhone is up to date, or if it's (guessing) an 10 or older it may not support this iOS version

That isn't the issue I am afraid. Updated on 14 Pro Max

Can you post a photo of what you mean then? Mine does not adjust my car play screen when I do that

I will try to take a pic of it when I drive it again. Like if I am on the SiriusXM screen and click the little notification at the bottom, it jumps my screen over to the maps and reads the text to me, then flips back to Sirius after it is done.

That may be intended behavior. I use Android Auto with the 8.4 screen. When I have the phone connected with a USB cable, the 8.4 display switches to the Android Auto screen whenever a text message arrives. It will also periodically switch screens if I have the Navigation running in Google Maps. I have to manually change back to the desired screen whenever it switches.

Sirius screen as in the one on the left side with AM and FM? That's separate from CarPlay and I'm gonna guess that's just how it works. it has to go into CarPlay to read you the text or whatever.
