You do realize you could have just tuned the sound with exhaust, right? Putting the cats back in because you don't like the exhaust note is like reaching in the toilet and putting the turd back in your ass because you're hungry again.
I have Borla Cat back exhaust, Supercharged, sleeved motor with forged internals. The Borla exhaust sounds great with them on vs catless.

You "tuned" it - the exhaust is like an acoustic guitar in a way (have seen others describe it as such as well). The expanding air passing various passages changes the notes.
I put an H crossover pipe behind the headers on one of my cars to even out the notes and mellow things out a bit.
Because to a point the exhaust gases are expanding, depending on where various components are in the system, they'll change the tone different. If they were farther back the sound would be different from where they are.

That's one of the worst analogies I've heard in a long time.

Turds are designed to be removed from the body. Catalytic converters are not designed to be removed from the exhaust system.

Here's one for you: removing a catalytic converter and wondering why the exhaust is bad is like removing your liver and wondering why your body is bad. Put it back in and things will work normally again.

I'm starting to think you're just here to troll.

I'm just messing around, if you clowns actually believe what you're posting, then leave your cats in, I'm not the one trolling here. If you don't like the topic, then don't participate, but don't post nonsense about the world coming to an end because you removed some ridiculous EPA bullshit. You and catboy, the master race tech(LMFAO) can leave your trucks as stock as you want, but stop trying to convince everyone else to be an idiot like you.

Master tech, lol, You've trolled darn near every single post I've made on this forum, probably because I see you for the fool you are. Keep your truck stock if you want. You and Cocksickle have the distinct privilege of being on my ignore list, which is very rare, but neither of you have anything of value to contribute, other than "Jeep is smart, you are not, leave it stock. The mark of a true liberal is not only to be an uneducated idiot, it is trying to convince others to be just like them, and anyone who is not, is wrong by default. Seems like liberals are buying up all the Overlands :CWL: This is the first and last rise you will get out of me. You are an absolute mindless internet poser who knows next to nothing about 95% of the topics on this forum. Life is too short to listen to your mindless drivel, Piss off.

Wait, isn't that what you're doing? None of us have done that. You're the one attacking people who disagree with you. Hell, I only posted two times!

I've removed cats countless times from vehicles, mostly for sport car racing builds. But it goes beyond just taking it out to see gains. It all has to work together, from the tune to the headers to the rest of the exhaust. There is a time and place to do it. I simply stated that on a Gladiator it isn't one of those. But at no point did I ever say you couldn't do it if you wanted to. Sorry that was so triggering for you.

Instead of going through all the trouble of trying piece back together your "gutted cats", you could have just restricted your exhaust flow about 50% and had the same affect, lol. There's no fairy dust or muffler bearings inside catalytic converters that makes your exhaust sound cool. Good God, man.

Ironic being called a liberal. That's a hoot for sure. I won't show the presidential yard signs I have stashed in the garage dating back to the 70s.
So someone who has no valid supportable debate arguments instead, like an internet troll, resorts to attempted insults and name calling. Check out the article in Psychology Today from a few years back on this very topic. Hmmmm, check.
I follow no one around. Least of all those who are professional antagonists.
Sounds like I'm the one living in someone's head if he sees me following him. Paranoia, it's called.
Guess he's also never visited the thread on stock or nearly stock Jeeps in this forum. There's a whole lot of 'em, contrary to popular belief.

Interesting the comment on uneducated - usually that comes from a certain side of the spectrum (and it's well-known that formal education has zip to do with intelligence - those I worked with who had a masters couldn't figure out how to reboot a computer)
Well, this non-liberal is college educated and has 50 years under his belt in the auto industry doing what I talk about.

As far as exhaust sound - no, restricting wouldn't have the same effect on sound. it's the same reason there are chambers off to the side of the air intake tube vs. just changing the size of the tube. Air exiting the exhaust passing holes or chambers will see a pronounced change in sound. It's similar to the effect of an X or H pipe in some cars. Or more akin to an acoustic guitar. The size and shape of the "chamber" off to the side of the main flow has impact. So taking the guts out of a converter can be a very different effect from just replacing the pipe with a smaller one. Acoustic science.
