Clearcoat for raw steel bumpers

For anyone who has clear-coated their raw steel bumpers or rock rails, etc. What product did you use and how is it holding up? Thanks.

I clear powdercoat all my steel stuff Holds up fine, if you see it nicked, just hit it with a can of clear

Bonus, you can see my steel bed attachment thing in the first pic with the bumper, also done in clear. I've had it on there about 2 years

Looks cool and I’m considering if I’ll go this route. Wish I could do this at home, but I definitely can’t powder coat in my garage.

Is that a one off homemade bumper? Been thinking about doing one myself. If so what winch mounting plate did you go with?

I briefly searched the internet for an appropriate coating and saw that POR 15 makes a direct to metal clear coat product in a spray can. Their rust converter coating was absolutely magic on an 84 Datsun/Nissan pickup I had. I would probably trust their clear to hold up well on a front bumper.

We did Dirt Track Sprint Car Frames/Chassis after sand blasting with just Clear rattle cans.. love the look, rough from sand blast and clear made smooth.. held up ok on the track cars.. I should have remembered and done the CavFab I had powder coated.

Fun fact, that’s on my rear dif cover, I never PC’d it; two years later and it’s still cooking. I just took my time prepping it and did 2-3 coats

you can find a powder coat shop near you of you can get a paint shop to use cerakote clear ceramic. once cured its tougher then powdercoat
