Cold morning exhaust smell 3.0

Quick question, when I start my eco diesel in cold air (10-28 degrees F) in air that is not windy at all, the smell of the DEF fluid is so strong it hurts your nose and eyes. Like very pungent.

I have no warning lights, runs as normal, particulate filter is not nearing a regen state (soot level like 35%)

it’s bad enough where if the air is stale and I open my garage to warm up the truck before leaving the def smell makes it annoying AF to even walk through the garage to get in the truck.

again no issues, but has anybody experienced this?

Is it new or newish?

Not the same engine, but in my Duramax 3.0 I don't recall ever smelling def. Even during a regen phase in freezing temps. Come to think of it, I can't recall smelling def in any diesel I have owned aside from when I was pouring it in. What brand are you using? Potential leak somewhere?

No leaks. Blue which is iso certified.
6500 miles, done this since new.

It's normal, and sometimes more unpleasant than other times. When the aftertreatment system heats-up, the synthetic urine smell isn't so pronounced, if at all.

Mine smells. My dmax did not. In the d max the scr was befor the dpf. In the eco d it’s near the end of the line. Like just before the muffler. I’m guessing the order of operations plays into the smell

I actually started today, it was about 25F out, and noticed it for the first time myself. Was one of those "is there something wrong moments." Disappeared upon returning home 30 minutes later.
