Aug 7 (‘23) article about the upcoming 2025 Fisker Alaska truck (essentially an electric Ford Maverick) and Fisker Ocean (essentially an electric Kia Telluride). Price ranges look to be around $38-70k pre-incentives (if even eligible under new rules); Stellantis had better get their act together. I for one wish they’d let people pay for these types of modern internal guts and add any top you’d want (CJ, Wagoneer, Commanche, etc) like those Jeep shaped fiberglass tubs you could buy. If there was a modern version of a 1975 Ford pickup I’d be selling stuff to pay for it.

I’ve been reading a lot about EV’s lately as our next vehicle for my wife will probably be one. Don’t worry we still will have 3 ICE vehicles!
I think what you’re referring to is commonly called a skateboard architecture where the drive train and “frame” if you will, is a common component and then you can put what ever body you want on it. Rivian is the only company that I know of that is actually doing this with the R1S and R1T and it makes a lot of sense.

As far as Stelantis is concerned there seems to be a lot of double talk coming from their CEO so I’m not sure what direction the company is headed into. Personally, I think EV’s are an interesting option and in some applications makes sense but it is not the panacea to solve the worlds energy demands …

I would be leery of buying an EV from any company without a proven track record and like with ICE vehicles I never buy anything the first year of production..

I've got a Ford Lightning issued to me for work, and my opinion is that it's (still) about 3-5 years before I'd personally get an EV. And I'd have no issue not having a gasser at that point, but we're not there, yet.

1) We need more and faster chargers-- plus social etiquette needs to set in to standardize what's a douche move vs what is acceptable. There's a lot of douche right now when it comes to chargers in general.

2) Better range, and I need to know I won't have to replace the batteries in 5-7 or so years. Battery tech is almost there (solid state batteries?)

I can carry spare gas but how does this work with an EV? Not going to take that risk since the nearest town is 100 miles out Hwy 140.
