There is no downside on any motor. They work.

I installed one on my 2001 Cherokee, the inline 6 is notorious for rust and filling up a radiator with it. They definitely do work. My coolant remains green! You'll want to do a good flush first and replace parts that are suspect. Plumbing parts from Home Depot or off Amazon. The Baldwin B5134 with an adapter is the way to go. Change it every 1000 miles at first. Outlet/inlet valves at the filter so you can trim the pressure from the water pump to get a differential. I put my filter right behind the front bumper on the Cherokee as there's limited room under the hood so you may have to be creative for location.
