Bought my JTR in 3 years ago for a few paint bubbles on the hood. Discussed the options and based on the advice at the time decided to just book an appointment at warranty end (Feb 2026) and tackle it all at once assuming it would spread like cancer. Fast-forward to today... No hinge corrosion and a few questionable spots at 2 door seem welds. The hood has a few spots beyond the previous and is definite replacement. My question is do I push to get everything covered knowing the hinges are clean so that I can get the new hinges with integrated dielectric shims or did I get a "good one" in which case dont fix what ain't broke... Glad mine is a clean one but knowing the surface under the hinge is raw AL concerns me... Anyone in a similar position?

I just got a call that mine was complete but I was at work yesterday and the dealer is closed today. Swung by to see if it was in the lot. I didn’t have any spots on my hinges but all 4 doors on the seams and edge of the hood on both sides. They replaced all the hinges and sanded and repainted the spots. But per the warranty bulletin they are suppose to replace the outside door panels if it’s on the seam. I’m going to have to talk to someone and hopefully have them fix their half ass repair or see if another dealer can make it right. I’m glad they replaced the hinges so I didn’t have that problem but pretty upset about them not replacing the door panels. I’d take it in and see what they say. Since they should be replacing the panel if it’s on the seam then you would get new hinges I’m assuming as well.

The dealer might cover them. When my dealer wouldn't, they did agree to paint new hinges along with the rest of the covered work as long as I paid for them, which I did.
