I've had my gladiator about a year now, and the decked boxes for about 10 months. I love them 90% of the time. On big family trips, I am sure it would be easier if I had use of the whole bed. However, for just about everything else, I love the convince and security of them. As many have mentioned before, one of the biggest downsides to them is the wasted space. I don't have a solution to fix all of it, but I found a way to get back some of that space. This past weekend, I installed a viair compressor under the lid of the boxes, and in the next couple of weeks, I'm hoping to put an air tank under there as well (the viair 2.0 gallon tank should fit). I attached a couple of pics. It's not the cleanest job ever - but it works for me!

Here's the compressor under the lid.

Here's where I ran the hose out of.

And here's just an awesome pic of it from Ouray, CO earlier this year!

Great use of wasted space.

My only concern would be the compressor overheating due to lack of air movement.

I suppose that is possible, but I'm not too concerned. I live in CO, and most of my wheeling is done above 8,000ft. It's never that hot on a trail. I got the 450 with a 100% duty cycle, and it has a thermal overload in case I'm wrong!
