Bought mine used and it had a silver dollar sized "Oops" on the tailgate about 1/8" deep in the middle. Tried pushing it back out from the inside with no luck. Yeah, I agree,. Paper thin, however, if the posts are true, I'll get a new one with my paint claim.

So I guess the take away here is ... don't back into stuff?

My Glady tailgate doesn't seem any thinner or weaker than my last truck and it was a 90's. Both had the misfortune of being owned by me so scratches and dents are inevitable.

Has anyone else noticed how delicate the tailgate is? It dents and crinkles at the slightest touch.
I've had stuff loaded with a forklift and never had any issues. You should check out what Tacoma guys have to do, every Taco owner I know has added a thick sheet of aluminum to reinforce their tailgates against bending in half with normal use. You also have to add reinforcement to the bedsides because the plastic bed doesn't have the strength to hold itself up when loaded.

I'd feel fine throwing a motorcycle in the back of my truck and not worrying about the tailgate and I don't think the sides will peel off if I go get a scoop of rocks. Because the sides didn't peel off when I got a bunch of gravel loaded with a front-loader.

I guess the days of being able to back over mailboxes without a care in the world have come to an end!

On the flip side the plastic rear bumper can take a beating. My wife backed mine into my neighbor's '66 Chevy 1/2 ton. Smashed his headlight and just put a couple scuffs on my bumper.
