Hi guys,
Hopefully my deal works out and I'll be signing the final paperwork and trading my Ford Ranger for a '23 diesel Gladiator Rubicon (pretty basic specs but leather seats and cold weather package and Mud terrain tires).
I've owned a BMW X5 diesel back in the day for 82k miles but had emission failures (was towed one time). I did purchase extended warranty thru BMW and they covered the repairs (was about $3k each time and both times, it was emission related!!). I did change the oil around 7k religiously incl the articulate diesel filter (and plan on following the same routine with the Glady).
I saw Jeep states the following on the diesel windows sticker:
5–year or 100,000–mile Powertrain Limited Warranty
3–year or 36,000–mile Basic Limited Warranty
Is the emission considered part of the power train warranty (hence 100k coverage)? Or does it fall under the 3 y/36k as non powertrain item? I asked my salesman and he said "oh..don't worry..its 100k coverage for everything!" but like my dad once said, NEVER trust a car salesman..lol.
I do like modern diesel engines but also know even a small emission repair can turn into a wallet drain, outside warranty. I'm not planning on doing any mods other than changing the crappy halogen to LED bulbs and possibly front tint and a bed cover. Planning to keep this till 100k and then access whether to run it to ground and keep up the maintenance OR get rid of it by then.
Cheers!
