Diesel returns?

So is the DEF system related to all the emissions stuff that is problematic? I read that Scania diesels don’t have DEF and was wondering if that will make them more reliable. Also, if so, how are they able to not have DEF on their diesels? I believe emissions in the EU are tougher than here. Could be wrong on that though.

From what I've read thats exactly the issue with diesels, and why so many truckers were buying gliders until the feds shut that down.

Ultimately what's worse for the environment? Diesel exhaust fumes untreated by DEF, etc or expending the resources necessary to build a new truck every few years?

lol My Ram Truck Regens min every 100 miles and it used to regen every 1000. So the system is Regening 10 times the amount as it originally did. That's worse for the environment, making the standards so high the trucks cant run on them properly.

Diesel aftertreatment technology has improved and continues to improve, but more and more legislators are trying to push diesels off the road. The new 2028 Cummins will be able to run hydrogen. So, there's a political push to move away from diesel and more towards hydrogen, electric, and hybrids.

Trust me, I was not planning to buy a 2023 Gladiator EcoDiesel, but once we heard they were being discontinued, then we bought one. We own three EcoDiesels and will be buying a new Cummins in 2029/2030. In the meantime, I'm going to try to buy a 2014 - 2019 regular cab EcoDiesel. Steam engines and diesel engines are my two favorite engines.
