I know I am probably going to get laughed at for this post....but here goes anyway. First, this is not my first Jeep (prior Jeeps include: 1990 YJ Wrangler, 86 Cherokee, 97 Cherokee, 2002 Grand Cherokee, 2000 Cherokee) and I don't recall any of them spraying/pushing this much road spray into the engine bay. I now have 1,000 miles on my new JT and the engine bay is already dirtier than it was after 12 years and 165,000 miles in a VW Jetta commuter car. I have not been offroad, but about 500 of the miles were on salty/slushy roads. Is it the lack of an underbelly cover and horrible aerodynamics that force all of the road spray up into the engine bay? Perhaps its coming in through the radiator due to the cooling configuration? I know it won't necessarily hurt anything, I am not worried about it, and plan to wash it gently once per year.......guess I am just a bit surprised to open the hood and see this much of a mess on a modern vehicle.

Found mine to be the same. As this should be my last vheical, after washing I open the hood to do a wipe down and vacuum as needed. Trying to keep the TJ in tip top shape!

I use to do a lot of car shows. My normal process is zip lock bag over any air filters that are exposed so they don't get wet. Spray down with simple green. Then rinse with water but not high pressure. Follow up with a wipe down to get the built up spots.

He is my 07 charger take last week. 137k miles on her.
