For the past eight years, I've been using a Masterflow 12v tire inflator to air up my tires. It's been with me since my first Jeep, the 07 JK. Despite its low cost of just under $45 at the time, it has consistently performed well. Recently, however, I noticed it was running unusually hot, so I decided it was time for an upgrade before it gave out during use.
Although I entertained the idea of installing an onboard air setup, I ultimately decided against it mainly due to cost. I've been eyeing the VIAIR 450P for a while and when it recently went on sale, I decided to go for it. It has an automatic shutoff function, which when combined with a pressure regulator downstream, makes it very convenient for airing up. This setup allows me to preset the desired tire pressure; once reached, the compressor shuts off automatically.
The VIAIR also has a large flat base with vibration dampeners which work very well. It's super quiet especially when compared to my previous inflator, the Masterflow.
Here's a parts list if anyone wants to build something similar. Currently just under $400 for the entire setup.

25ft Polyurethane Coil Hose. (x2 for dual tire fill):

The 25ft length hose gives you the ability to air up all tires without having to move the compressor. The entire setup fits (just barely) into the VIAIR bag that comes with the compressor.
When testing, I aired up two 35s from 15psi to 37psi in under 9 minutes. Not bad.
