I ordered the parts. If it works out the way I think it wiil, I'll post a video showing it.

I agree starting the compression with 20-50 psi of back pressure won't destroy the compressor...at least not instantly. It just seems to me this may be a way to eliminate all fears of adding stress, and easy way to check accurate tire pressure with compressor on.

Most of this is more of an afterthought. My initial plan was to just add a schrader valve to the manifold, so the 4 tire system can be used at a gas station etc. The exhaust/safety valve is most me just playing and seeing if there is a better way vs hitting the manual lever air shut off valve and compression power switch to get a good tire reading (not a pulsating one due to compressor blowing air).

Got all the parts and put it together. It works exactly how I thought it would, so far.

Jeep Gladiator DIY 4 tire air up/down system question...use a safety exhuast coupler?? 20220616_205305

Piss poor video, especially since I had it connected to my shop compressor and no tires or tire air leads. But it does show how I can exhaust the compressor air, instead of putting it into the manifold/tires. Then I could get an accurate pressure read, if more pressure is needed just slide/divert the pressure back I to the manifold/tires.

Timing videos. Pretty boring stuff though.

Air down (35 psi to 18 psi 1 minute and 45 seconds)

Air up via 1/4" coupler and shop compressor (18 psi to 35 psi -1 minute and 7 seconds)

Air up via manifold schrader valve with a shop air compressor (schader valve is for a gas station setup - 3minutes and 36 seconds)

Air up with 12v 150-si Harbor freight compressor (18 psi to 35 psi - 10 minutes 23 seconds...which was about a minute longer then the first time I did this)
