Do door limiters stop pin damage?

I' had trouble with the auto stop that the dealer attributed to a bent pin. Now my heated mirrors are not working and I suspect it is a pin problem.
I had my doors on and off throughout the summer. I left the limiters un-bolted, but always hooked the straps. Do the straps alone stop the doors from swinging too far and causing pin damage?

I haven't had mine attached since I got my JT a year and a half ago. I believe the hard plastic "limiters" are there to hold the door open, and help it close. You most likely have some bent pins in your door harness plug. Lots of threads on here about that.

The connector pins get bent when putting the connectors back together. If you never take the doors off and/or disconnect the connection at the kick panel, there's no way for the pins to get bent because they are in the female part of the connector, protected.
It would be like saying the prongs on your coffee maker plug got bent while it was plugged in.
The only time there are "bent pins" are when they are disconnected and re-inserted - it's at that point they get bent. Not while driving or opening and closing doors.
The strap also prevents pull on the wires - if those straps are hooked at each end there's not enough pull in the wires to do harm.

Not wanting to split hairs, but the pins on the coffee maker can get bent while inserted in the outlet if pulled to the side.

The connectors, as they are designed, will protect the pins after they are correctly inserted... they cannot be side-loaded as the coffee plug can.

The best option for those that keep bending pins R&Ring doors, is to swap out for the military/aviation style Amphenol connectors. If I were to have the bent pin issue, these are what I will go with...

Very true - but like you said, the way these shells are made, that's not possible. You are pulling in the wire, and not sideways. The pins and sockets are in the plastic shell and can't move sideways.

I have to be around any time my wife wants to unplug something - I've told her and showed her, but she yanks on the wire of the vacuum cleaner or whatever to unplug it and isn't always straight back from the outlet............ don't do that!

Expecting the doors to come off, and the whole rugged image Jeep portrays, you'd think these would be standard.

Anyone have a JK currently or in the past, was this an issue?
