Not really, the Valley floor is as low as 0 ft ASL.

I live in the mountains and at times it's basically cloud coverage you're driving through. I've added fog lights to every truck I've owned that didn't have them and can't fathom taking them off my Jeep. But I suppose closer to sea level, this kind of fog is rare to nonexistent?

Amber lights are super helpful in dusty (typically desert off roading) conditions.

The Rigid cubes (Duallys) on top of the bumper ends are Amber lights...

I've always felt that the more I can see, the better off I am. It's also the better someone else can see me, and thus avoid me, the better off I am. I find fog lights are also great for spotting critters on the side of the road at night. And the main reason for them is they're low so in real shitty weather (fog, heavy rain or snow) they don't half blind you the way headlight can when reflecting back on you.

There must be a market for vehicles without fog lights. Chevy sold many ZR2 trucks without stock fog lights. Base model trucks come without fog lights

Yup. All comes down to preference. I love mine.

I find front fogs in amber to be very helpful in fog and snow, rear fogs are super helpful in rain and fog as well as position indicator lamp.

Do I need fogs? Not as much as think I do.

But it all depends on your conditions. I had a horrible experience once with radiation fog where the fog is light but very fine droplets with sun above; the fog and the sky become the same color and it gets very disorienting and suddenly the ears and the eyes don't agree on which way is up. Amber hella 500 fog beams on the crash bars saved the day.

From an electrical stand point the missing lights look like unpowered lights.

Ask the guys who off road in the desert about amber lights. Very, very popular out here in the southwest...
