It's a good idea. You may want to change it a little.

The 3/4" Close nipple will have all the torque on it, I would go with a Sch. 80 instead of a Sch. 40.

If you find your riser pipe is bending or cracking due to the drilled holes, you can get a 3/4" x 1" threaded bell reducer instead of one of the 3/4" couplings. Then you'd need a 1" coupling and 1" pipe instead of 3/4" pipe.

We shall see. I have about 30 minute 60mph drive up I-83 to get to fireworks tomorrow. Hoping for the best. This is definitely going to be stronger than some of the flagpoles that I tried in the past.
