The dreaded lightning bolt came up about 15 miles from home today as I was pulling out if the pharmacy. Ive had the ABs light on for a bit but no error codes and have been working on narrowing it down. But now think it may be related. I did use a security bypass and my tune programmer to reset the codes. But they returned upon restart.

Codes:

U1424 - Implausible Engine Torque Signal Received

U1412 - Implausible Vehicle Speed Signal Received

Symptoms -
High Idle, Not able to shift gears stuck in 3rd gear. ABS Light, Tractions Control, Throttle error light, check engine, zero throttle control input.

What Ive done -
Checked harness to throttle and reinserted.
Checked Battery Cables and Throttle Body Harness. Tried to reset throttle by going to run pushing throttle and releasing then starting vehicle, have cleared all codes with no evail.

Like said above, my gut feeling is that the ABS, Traction Control issues are related. Ive had some error codes before but they always cleared up in a couple minutes before they became permanent without any error codes. No not steering wheel or alignment. Originally thought it may of been a speed sensor issue. But with this happening and with the transmission unable to go into any other gear, along with the dead throttle. I am leaning towards a possible transmission control module failure. Which could make sense as the vehicle was driven up in the arctic for a couple months and had all that gook covering everything from the dalton and dempster.

Any ideas would be helpful. I was able to limp home between 2wd for normal driving about 15-20mph with high idle. As well as having to drop down into 4wd low to get up and steeper incline at like 3mph.

Thanks
Doc

Update:

i found the error was most likely caused by a throttle commander in its highest setting. Vehicle has a emissions compliment tune. I went through and reprogrammed the transmission with my programmer. Which btw was in stock tune. Not the performance transmission tune. After the tune was updated it automatically clears all codes. When this was done the vehicle functioned normally. But still have abs lights on. Which dont seem to be related to this. If the fix doesnt hold up I will report back.

Oh, boy - Pedal Commander - the internet is FULL of errors this thing causes.
Your dead pedal was likely due to how the pedal commander is powered - killing your throttle control circuit. Sure fits the video below.

This may be why you and many others get error codes-

Everyone needs to watch this video -

I don't have a diesel but the 3.6 and have used a Pedal Commander for about a year and a half. Over the last few months I've had to return it twice for voltage and sensor errors. The company has been good about repairing it but after watching the video and seeing direct correlation to my problems, I'm moving on from them

Maybe it was you who put me onto that video? Not sure, but whoever it was, thanks, it's very very good and informative. I have considered such a device myself - and now I am no longer leaning the direction I had been leaning. I'd go for the OBD port pigtail since I want my port free for other things. Power it from a source other than the factory pedal control itself.
Also - the curves were exactly the sort of information I wanted to know about - or should I say - lack of curve in the one system. I want a smooth transition, not a drop-off.

I wasn't the one who posted it but saw it earlier over on the JL site. I'm not one to take videos at face value but several things he said described my errors exactly

The new tune I am going with is supposedly fixing this issue with throttle response. No device needed. The only issue I have is I prefer a performance tune and one for economy. With the current GDE tune, my Alucab Canopy Camper, 37” and 3.5 lift when on eco on hwys in the southern Appalachians I am able to get 24mpg. Not too shabby given I have right over 500ft/lbs if torque and weigh right at or right over gvwr.

All said, this is the first major issue I have had with this unit and was tuned with factory transmission settings and parameters for errors. Also this is the first time Ive tried to use the unit at its highest setting. Not any issues before with performance transmission tune. Nor any other setting. For what it’s worth. I will reach out to Pedal Commander about this as and see what they have to add about this. Hopefully even with delete and new tune I will be able to find a way to have different throttle settings for selection.

Update, no solutions from pedal commander. Will be selling thiugh I cant recommend it. Would clear issue and it would continue to leave me stranded. Have since upgraded to the Banks Throttle Monster and have had zero issues with it. I am using with their super gauge in preparation for stage 2 tune. Will end up keeping my current GDE trans tune with Pedal Monster and stage 2 race tune, along with upgraded 4.56 gears. Current weight was almost 8900lbs. Had some issues with power down low even with tune due to tire size and weight and with motor not spooling turbo. The pedal monster did assist with this greatly, another benefit is due to my combat injury I am partially paralyzed in my right leg, especially control over right foot. I feel with a throttle device I also have much more control over the throttle input. Have driven a few performance vehicles like the Jaguar x type and feel my throttle is much more controllable. Ill do a new thread when we have the upgrades finished and dialed in. Probably post up on our social media talking about it. But cant really talk about certain aspects of stage 2 upgrades.
